They say summer isn’t a season — it’s a feeling. And for us, it began with the smoky rhythm of live blues, the spice of Cajun cooking, and the laughter of strangers who felt like old friends.
We kicked things off at the Madrid Blues and Crawfish Festival, where the air was thick with music, mischief, and the scent of buttered mudbugs. Between bites of fried catfish, shrimp, and boudin, we danced like nobody was watching — and even if they were, we were too busy living to care.
The next day, the tempo slowed but the magic didn’t. We traded festival beats for fine wine at the Andalusian Vineyard, a picture-perfect escape nestled among rolling hills and sunlit vines. Between tastings of their newest releases, a live cultural luncheon for members, and the winemaker himself sharing secrets of the season, it felt like a love letter to slower days and sun-drenched moments.
And just when we thought the weekend had written its final line, my little boy decided to take center stage — testing out his go-kart for the first time, speeding down the lane with pure, fearless joy. It was a reminder that adventure has no age limit… and that sometimes, life’s sweetest rush comes with a little bit of mud on the tires.
Because whether it’s blues or Bordeaux, laughter or a little bit of chaos — the best kind of summer is the one that leaves your heart a little fuller and your glass never quite empty.
